Rain'li was born in Sharlayan several years before the Seventh Umbral Calamity - the second youngest of five children born to Sinih, a sage and instructor at the Studium. His childhood was fairly typical, and he eventually went on to enroll in the Studium in his teenage years.When the Calamity occurred early in his studies, Rain'li spent the next few years growing increasingly frustrated with his inability to do anything, and even more so the lack of interest the people around him seemed to have for taking action themselves. This culminated in him eventually fleeing his home before he graduated, taking up the life of an adventurer.Rain'li is a Warrior of Light whose story largely follows the shape of FFXIV's main story, though he is now semi-retired following the events of Endwalker.
G'raha Tia: partneredWhile at the Studium, Rain'li looked up to G'raha and had dreams of eventually joining the Students of Baldesion himself. The eventual shift in the direction of admiration and the events of Shadowbringers left him with complicated feelings, but they finally figured out their relationship after Endwalker, not wanting to have any regrets.
Koana: exes with benefitsWhen their time at the Studium coincided, Rain'li and Koana entered into a brief relationship - though Koana was still concealing his identity at the time. Shocked to see each other during the start of the Rite of Succession, something is rekindling - though there are still hurt feelings on both sides that will need to be figured out before they decide what, exactly, that is.
The Scions of the Seventh Dawn: familyThough how close they each are will vary somewhat by the individual, Rain'li considers each of the core members of the Scions to be his family.
Squeak: companionRain'li found an injured coyote pup one day and took it in, insisting to anyone who asked that he would only be staying until he was healed. This was an obvious failure.
